Frequently Asked Questions
Whether shipping is taxed depends on your state’s laws. Some states require sales tax to be applied to shipping for taxable items, while others do not. At Ahịa, we use automated tax software to make sure your sales tax is calculated correctly based on your shipping address. That means the final cost can vary a bit by state. You might see sales tax on shipping in one state but not in another, even for the same product from the same seller.
At Ahịa, we use an automated and comprehensive shipping solution that displays real-time rates from major carriers (like USPS, FedEx, or UPS) at checkout based on your order details and shipping address. This way, you always get the best available rate and can choose the shipping option that works best for you. However, some vendors may choose to use flat rate or fixed shipping for their product shipment.
Shipping rates can change for one or more of the following reasons: the vendor or Ahịa may have covered part of the cost in a previous order, the vendor may have updated their flat rate or fixed shipping cost, or carrier rates (like USPS, FedEx, or UPS) may have increased.
The platform service fee, currently 3.5% per transaction (before taxes), helps maintain Ahịa as a safe and trusted marketplace. This fee helps cover a portion of credit card processing costs and supports our comprehensive vendor verification and vetting processes, which are designed to protect customers from fraud and misconduct. We encourage you to always complete your purchases directly through the Ahịa platform to ensure you receive the full protection and benefits this fee provides. From time to time, we may adjust the fee to reflect evolving business or market conditions, but we will always do so transparently.
